“The impact that the AHCH apartments have on our pediatric patient families is tremendous. The ability to offer an apartment to a family in a medical crisis is invaluable. The cost of a local hotel is insurmountable, and the availability of our apartments eliminates any additional financial strain on those facing added medical costs and possible loss of income due to their child’s hospitalization. Family members who have stayed in the AHCH apartments on Second Street have expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to be close to their sick child, grandchild, sibling, niece, or nephew. These apartments have certainly made a positive impact in the lives of these families at such a challenging time.”

“The involvement and commitment of the Alfred Sanzari Family Foundation at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital has been transformative. Their dedication to the care of our patients, through their support of our Child Life program, has made an impact on hundreds of children. In 2019, the Foundation committed to renovating a teen game room for pediatric inpatients. Dana, Benita, and Lisa were all active and involved supporters in our fundraiser to support the child life needs in our oncology department, Starry Night Soiree. We are incredibly grateful for the foundation’s active and generous participation."

We are truly grateful to the Alfred N. Sanzari Family Foundation for its support during a time of unprecedented fear and need for The CarePlus Foundation. As a community based mental health agency in Northern NJ serving a diverse socio-economic population that addresses the needs of those with mental health challenges as well as those in addiction recovery, we found many of our clients in a position of great need. At the time we connected with the Sanzari Family Foundation, our own Foundation was reeling from the loss of revenue, due to the cancellation of two fundraisers that we had been relying on in order to address emergency client needs. Our main support services include: housing & utility assistance, covering the cost of expensive non-generic medications, access to children's therapeutic resources, as well as gift cards for groceries and hygiene products.
We were finding ourselves not able, as we usually are, to meet the needs of all clients in crisis, but instead prioritizing those of greatest need. This would have caused the Foundation to have to forgo the requests of support for up to 15 families in need. With the timely and critical support of the Sanzari Family Foundation we have been able to help our clients avoid homelessness, utility shut-offs and not having to face food shortages.
On behalf of the 14,000 clients served by CarePlus NJ and The CarePlus Foundation we are most grateful.
